3 Tips for a Successful Application

From Sari Lewis, HR Manager

#1: Proofread, proofread, and proofread again! I can't tell you how many times we open an application and within the first few sentences, there is a spelling error! While a spelling or grammatical error may seem like a small thing, we often decline applicants because of them. You only have one chance to make a first impression.

#2: Read directions carefully.  This may seem simple, but I would say between 30-40% of our applications are submitted without attachments. Without the necessary documents, we can't review your application.

#3: Use the writing sample to differentiate yourself. We receive between 1,000-1,500 applications for each position and there are only a few of us reading! The topic is less important than the story you craft. Don't be afraid to think outside the box and let your personality shine through in your writing.
