How would you describe your morning routine? What do you typically do?
When I get to the office, I pick up coffee to add to my IV drip, settle into my desk, and bother Emma (poor girl has to sit next to me and deal with me all day).
Commuting in a big city, what is it like and what tips do you have about it?
I live on the Upper East Side, so it’s a bit of a trek across town. I take the subway, shuffle my way through Times Square, and walk 15 minutes to the office. My favorite part is the walk because no one can “accidentally” elbow me in the face. But ask me again in January when I’m waist-deep in slush.
What is your go-to work outfit?
The comfiest pants I can find and a cardigan that doubles as a blanket.
What is something you always have at your desk?
My orchid. Her name is Ruth.
What is your favorite spot in the office?
The 10th floor chairs that face the windows. I, like Ruth, need my sunlight.
When you know it is going to be a challenging day at the office, what helps keep you motivated?
My secret stash of chocolate and my manager sending me gifs.
What kind of projects have you worked on so far in this current rotation?
My team primarily works on customer journeys in loyalty programs, so I’ve done several competitive analyses for clients to inform strategic program changes. I’m also helping to create a “look book” of my team’s projects to show off our super cool work.
Lunch break! What do you do for lunch?
If I’m fully #adulting that week, I probably brought a limp salad. More often than not, I buy a sandwich downstairs. I always eat with other Associates!
What do you wish someone had told you day one?
Make friends with the admins around you. They keep Ogilvy running and they know all the office gossip.
How do you break up your work day?
I take a walk around the block to get fresh air or I roam the office (read: pester other Associates at their desks).
If you had to pick, what has been your favorite thing about working at Ogilvy?
Definitely the people – I can always find someone to point me to the right conference room when I inevitably get lost.
Are you involved in any professional networks? If so, which ones and what do you like about it?
Yes! I’m a member of YPN (Young Professionals Network) and their events are great—we get to spread our little social butterfly wings and meet other young, clueless millennials.
Hell’s Kitchen – what is a cool local spot/restaurant/shop around the office you have found that you love?
Everyone goes to Landmark next door, but I prefer Pocket Bar a few blocks away. Classy vibes and free popcorn!!
How do you wind down after a long day at work?
I watch a documentary (or, more often, Friends for the 5000th time), cook dinner, and chill.
When you are not in the office, what do you like to do around NYC?
I love going to museums on the rainy days and taking walks through Central Park on the sunny days.
Ogilvy Facts 101 – what is something interesting you have learned about Ogilvy as a company?
We have offices in 83 countries. That’s almost, like, half the countries. Woah.
If you get to leave the office early…
I peer pressure other Associates to leave with me because all of my other friends are in finance and don’t leave their offices until 11pm. We are #blessed.
An Ogilvy secret revealed…
One of the phone rooms on the 11th floor has a beanbag chair.
