How would you describe your morning routine? What do you typically do?
When I get to work I grab an iced coffee and a giant bottle of water. Then I check on some of our brand’s social channels and write down Webster Dictionary’s Word of the Day.
Commuting in a big city, what is it like and what tips do you have about it?
I love commuting in the city! Chicago’s office is right where two rivers merge. It’s a really scenic spot and it’s especially beautiful in the morning, so when I walk to work I really try to appreciate the views.
What is your go-to work outfit?
I wear a lot of turtlenecks. And a lot of Everlane, I think I have a brand crush.
What is something you always have at your desk?
Chapstick! They weren’t kidding when they said Chicago’s winters were dry.
What is your favorite spot in the office?
Our design shop, 485, is my favorite area! They always have their work up on blackboards too; I love passing by there whenever I can.
When you know it is going to be a challenging day at the office, what helps keep you motivated?
Having an extra slow morning to take the time to feel as prepared as possible for the day. And adding a shot to my iced coffee.
What kind of projects have you worked on so far in this current rotation?
Writing some of the post copy we’re using in campaigns to be launched and creating strategies for Twitter optimizations. The social strategy rotation has been great because I feel like I get to work on projects that encompass social, PR, media, account, strategy, and creative all in one.
Lunch break! What do you do for lunch?
I’ll text some pals from the office so hopefully we can eat together. And I consume a steady diet of Pret’s tomato soup.
What do you wish someone had told you day one?
It’s okay to not have it all figured out. That’s kind of what you’re here to do.
How do you break up your work day?
I feel really lucky to be people who are smart and great in our office, so I try to break up the work day by chatting with as many of those people as I can!
If you had to pick, what has been your favorite thing about working at Ogilvy?
I’ve always felt that my team trusts me to do the work alongside them. My favorite part is that I’ve been trusted to contribute since day one.
Are you involved in any professional networks? If so, which ones and what do you like about it?
I just became a co-lead for Chicago’s YPN! I really enjoy working with the other co-lead and that we have a lot of freedom when planning programming for the club.
River North, Chicago – what is a cool local spot/restaurant/shop around the office you have found that you love?
Bernie’s has the best rooftop in the summertime!
How do you wind down after a long day at work?
My friends and I frequent this bar nearby called Green Door Tavern, chatting there is my favorite way to unwind.
When you are not in the office, what do you like to do around your city?
I try to do things with family a ton! We’ll go see movies and check out art exhibits, or just hang out. I love checking out other neighborhoods too. Wicker Park is a current favorite.
Ogilvy Facts 101 – what is something interesting you have learned about Ogilvy as a company?
We made the Nationwide jingle! Neat.
If you get to leave the office early…
I’m heading to the Art Institute! In the summer I’d do the architecture tour. Some of the touristy Chicago things that are actually the best.
