How would you describe your morning routine? What do you typically do?
I typically make tea or coffee (depending on what type of day it’s going to be…) and then make my to-do list and check my emails.
Commuting in a big city, what is it like and what tips do you have about it?
I’m lucky because I live just 17 blocks from the office, so I walk! That said, I’ll admit to having taken an Uber a couple of times, but only when needed (like during the Bomb Cyclone…).
What is your go-to work outfit?
In the winter, I usually reach for my black jeans, a sweater and leather booties.
What is something you always have at your desk?
My electric coffee warmer! It’s the best way to keep my coffee or tea warm when I’m running around the office. The only danger is that I sometimes forget to turn it off…whoops!
What is your favorite spot in the office?
My favorite spot is the Research and Intelligence Center. It has so much natural light and the bookworm in me loves that it feels like a cozy library.
When you know it is going to be a challenging day at the office, what helps keep you motivated?
Reminding myself that I got into this program for a reason, and that I can handle anything that’s thrown my way!
What kind of projects have you worked on so far in this current rotation?
I’ve been a leader on a project for a large furniture retailer that encourages parents to secure their furniture to the wall to avoid accidents. On this project, I’ve worked with creatives, the print production team and the digital production team. I’ve also had to shop and purchase items for photoshoots, which is extremely fun!
Lunch break! What do you do for lunch?
I try to pack my lunch to save money, but when I don’t, I either go to the cafeteria downstairs or head to the new spot down the street, Sunrise Market Place!
What do you wish someone had told you day one?
Every detail matters. It might seem obvious, but even the slightest typo in an email communicate to the recipient that you’re not paying close attention to the little things.
How do you break up your work day?
I like to get up every once and a while and take a lap around the floor. I’ll usually go bug one of my lovely fellow Associates just to chat.
If you had to pick, what has been your favorite thing about working at Ogilvy?
The people. I’ve learned so much from everyone I’ve interacted with here, especially since everyone comes from such diverse academic and professional backgrounds.
Are you involved in any professional networks? If so, which ones and what do you like about it?
Yes, I’m involved in the Women’s Leadership Professional Network (WLPN). I like that it carves out a space within the company for female professionals to support each other and discuss relevant issues surrounding women in the workplace.
Hell’s Kitchen – what is a cool local spot/restaurant/shop around the office you have found that you love?
There’s an adorable little coffee shop called The Jolly Goat Coffee Bar around the corner from the office on 47th. The people who work there make you feel like family when you walk in.
How do you wind down after a long day at work?
There’s nothing like binge watching Gilmore Girls or The Crown to destress, am I right?!
When you are not in the office, what do you like to do around NYC?
I love trying out new restaurants with friends and finding tiny bookstores in the city. I also recently joined The NY Choral Society, and we’re gearing up for our performance at Carnegie Hall!
Ogilvy Facts 101 – what is something interesting you have learned about Ogilvy as a company?
I just found out that Ogilvy has corporate memberships to a bunch of New York City museums, so employees who request tickets can visit for free!
If you get to leave the office early…
I go home and DO MY LAUNDRY!! Don’t let clean clothes fall by the wayside when you work in advertising…
An Ogilvy secret revealed…
Ogilvy has a medical center! Whenever you're not feeling too hot, you can pop downstairs and get checked out.
