“If each of us hires people who are smaller than we are, we shall become a company of dwarfs. But if each of us hires people who are bigger than we are, we shall become a company of giants.” – David Ogilvy, On Advertising
So, what is the Associates Program?
The Associates Program is a 12 month (September-August) rotational program designed for recent college grads. The program affords participants the opportunity to intimately explore different departments and determine where they would like to focus their careers before final placement in the agency at the end of the year. For many former associates, the program has helped accelerate their rise through Ogilvy.
We're aiming to build a company of giants. We're not looking for giant egos, only giant thinkers. You are savvy, can lead a team and think strategically. Never shying away from going above and beyond to deliver, you are diligent and capable of performing on a giant scale. See if you have what it takes.
Two Possible Tracks
Associates follow a Strategy or Account based track where they serve the majority (though not all) of their rotations. Brief descriptions of these two tracks are found bellow:
Account Management: Account management teams act as the liaison between the client and internal team. They serve as the linchpin of the agency and ensure that all projects run smoothly and efficiently. While focused on client relationships, account managers wear many hats and no two days are alike. Account managers are required to be strategic thinkers and have a full understanding of their clients’ business.
Strategy: Strategy is a broad category inclusive of Brand planning, Analytics, CRM, Content Marketing, and more. Strategists find the sweetspot between consumer behavior and a brand truth. They draw from research, current culture, and a deep knowledge of their client to formulate a messaging outline for the creative department to develop.
Possible rotations are also offered in the following departments: Consulting, New Business, Production, Social, PR
Ogilvy also offers an internship version of the Associates curriculum designed for college students during the summer before their fourth (senior) year of school.
